The Cavendish Arms is a 450 year old coaching inn. It is one of the oldest buildings in Cartmel and is situated within the old village walls. You can still see the old mounting block dated 1837 outside the main door. Its age can be sometimes measured Painfully by the low beams.The inn consists of a main bar with welcoming antique furnishings and an open log fire. We have a seperate cosy restaurant where bookings are needed (not needed in bar area).The Cavendish is ideally situated for visitors touring the Lake District and Cartmel peninsulas, there are ten en-suite rooms (one four poster) all with shower or combination of bath and shower. Tea and Coffee facilities are in all rooms along with colour tv. Enjoy the quaint beams, uneven floors and our true traditional hospitality.

The Queens Head is an historic 17th century coaching inn, situated in the Troutbeck Valley.Throughout the inn are solid oak beams, stone flag flors and heartwarming log fires by which you can enjoy a deserved drink, ordered from the bar which was once an Elizabethan four-poster bed from a room in Appleby Castle.
